what committee Got right & what Committee got Wrong
508th post on this amazing blog. Blog gist will augur seeding. As blog tries to place teams by accurate parameters & teams who play with heart. Site called bracketaday.blogspot.com but not 1, but 5 brackets for march madness, nit, basketball crown, cbi & basketball classic which used to be called cit. Yet called bracketaday.blogspot.com due to technically 1 mm bracket daily plus other 4 tourneys I seed. Try my best to place teams by seeding (march madness & nit only) & location (march madness, nit & basketball classic).
Today I'll
tell my
opinions on what committee got right & what committee got wrong.
This installment tells my opinions on committee choices. Alright
then. Tell my opinions on how selection committee did with seeding &
placement of 68 teams. Excited to write this piece. While i'll also
tell u who top seed is at each seed line & bottom seed is at each
seed line so it'll help u with ur bracket filling out. That's about
it.
Here's my view on how committee did its job on sunday evening.
what committee Got right.
I'll list my congratulations to what they did right for march madness. Ok then.
1
seeds: I have no problem with Duke, Arizona, Mich & Florida being 1
seeds. Excited to know by saturday
morning who 1 those games. Toughest 1 seed is Wolverines since they got easy path since they'd face Texas Tech, Akron, Alabama or Hofstra at sweet 16 compared to Arizona who'd face Wisconsin, Hawaii or Arkansas at sweet 16 & Wolverines don't have injury issues Duke does.
Ghastliest 1 seed is Florida as they're lowest Of 1 seeds based on what committee put out & they have 3 point shooting % below 32.9% which no team that won big dance ever had 3 point shooting % so low.
2
seeds: I have
no problem with Cougars, Huskies, Cyclones & Purdue being 2
seeds.
Would admire 2 see teams beat opponents from march 19 through april 6.
Toughest 2 seed is Cyclones since they could face Wolverines who play similar style to Purdue who Cyclones gave shellacking Of. Ghastliest 2 seed is Purdue as they have lowest defense on kenpom Of 2 seeds.
3 seeds: I have no problem with Spartans, Illinois, Gonzaga & Virginia being 3
seeds. All those teams will live 3
when they play. Toughest 3 seed is Illinois since they have highest ever offensive efficiency on kenpom for most Of the season.
Ghastliest 3 seed is Virginia as Charlottesville team had losing record last year & i distrust teams which had losing record prior year.
4
seeds: I have no problem with Cornhuskers, Alabama, Kansas & Arkansas being 4 seeds. Viewers will
watch Cornhuskers, Alabama, Kansas & Arkansas supporters
root 4 their schools. Toughest 4 seed is Arkansas since they were only member Of 4 seeds to make it past semifinals Of their conference tournament & they won their conference tournament.
Ghastliest 4
seed is Cornhuskers as they've never won a big dance game in program history.
5
seeds: I have no problem with Commodores, St John's, Texas Tech & Wisconsin being 5
seeds. See which teams will 5 in those games.
Toughest 5 seed is Commodores since they were 1 of the last undefeated teams at country. Ghastliest 5 seed is Texas Tech as most of their fine wins were close games.
6
seeds: I have no problem with Volunteers, North Carolina, Louisville & Cougars being 6
seeds. Squads were seeded right. Toughest 6
seed is Louisville since predictive metrics better than 22. Ghastliest 6 seed is Tennessee as they will be ass raped by Miami OH cuz Tennessee drew a bad draw & Tennessee inconveniently has injury to Ament that left him not playing at high level.
7
seeds: I have no problem with Kentucky, St Mary's & Miami FL being 7 seeds. Kentucky, St Mary's, Miami FL & Bruins will be in 7 if they make elite
8. Toughest 7 seed is St Mary's since slow style of play tends to win march madness games. Ghastliest 7 seed is Miami FL as they have 1st year head coach & program had losing record last year.
8
seeds: I have no problem with Clemson, Wildcats, Buckeyes & Georgia being 8
seeds. Don't 8 any of that
seeding. Toughest 8 seed is Tigers since squad has seen different styles Of play at ACC play & they get easy draw against team who had losing record last year being Hawkeyes but Tigers have hard draw for womens march madness as they play Trojans who have multiple 4 star & 5 star starters yet it's cool both Tigers mens & womens basketball teams made their respective march madness fields at same year for the 1st time since 1998 so that means athletic department improved at funding basketball.
Ghastliest 8 seed is Wildcats as they got 1st year coach.
9 seeds: I
have no problem with Horned Frogs, St Louis & Hawkeyes being
9 seeds. Squads
were
seeded right. Toughest 9 seed is Aggies since they possess team sheet metrics which most Of them don't correlate to 9 as team sheet metrics being most Of them are way higher than what u'd expect from 9 seed. Ghastliest 9 seed is Hawkeyes as they have 1st year coach & there are multiple nba draft prognosticators who don't believe Bennett Stirtz will be successful in nba so it's case Of him being overrated in big dance setting.
10 seeds: I have no problem with SCU, Knights, Missouri & Texas A&M being 10 seeds. When those squads wake up & hear rooster 10 crowing, they'll be ready to play. Toughest 10 seed is Texas A&M since they have high team sheet metrics (sor & bpi) compared to 2 other 10 seeds & they're battle tested. Ghastliest 10 seed is Missouri as they have weak team sheet metrics & not as many neutral or road quad 1 or quad 2 wins as Knights, who despite similar team sheet metrics to Missouri, do.
11
seeds: I have no
problem with SMU, VCU Rams & Bulls being 11 seeds. But if
they
make improbable elite 8 run, then Miami OH, Wolfpack, Longhorns, SMU, VCU Rams & Bulls will be
in 11 & 11 seeds feature 3 coaches i dislike in their membership because corrupt Will Wide, dirty Sean Miller & someone who gets jobs because Of silver spoon for Phil Martelli Jr. Toughest 11 seed is Miami OH since they have multiple wins where they won by around 20 points so anyone boasting that Miami OH had only buzzer wins isn't telling u the whole story & i fully expect Miami OH to make sweet 16 since they're stellar.
Ghastliest 11 seed is Bulls as they have 1st year head coach & didn't play march madness team in conference this year.
12 seeds: I have no problem with Cowboys, Akron, Northern Iowa & High Point being 12 seeds. Seeded right. Toughest 12 seed is Akron since they narrowly lost to Miami OH on road. Ghastliest 12 seed is High Point as they have 1st year head & High Point never won big dance game as program.
13
seeds: I have no problem with Lancers, Hofstra, Trojans & Hawaii being 13 seeds. Seeded right.
Toughest 13 seed is Hofstra since they beat power conference teams this season. Ghastliest 13
seed is Lancers as they make 1st march madness appearance in program history.
14
seeds: I
have no problem with Bison, Quakers, Raiders & Owls being 14 seeds. Seeded right. Toughest 14 seed is Bison since they get an inconsistent Spartans at round Of 64. Ghastliest 14
seed is Wright St as they only beat a would have been 16 seed, Detroit Mercy, by 3 points so how will they beat stronger teams at big dance.
15
seeds: I have no problem with Tigers, Idaho, Paladins & Royals being 15 seeds.
Seeded right. Toughest 15 seed is Idaho since they won lots Of their games by over 10 points & cool they made march madness for 1st time since 1990 so their last berth is older than i am.
Ghastliest 15
seed is Queens as they have lowest net Of any 15 seed.
16
seeds: I
have no
problem with Sharks, Howard, Lehigh & Panthers being
16 seeds. Seeded right. Toughest 16 seed is Saints since net was above 2 Of 15 seeds. Ghastliest 16 seed
is Panthers as they are worst statistical team at big dance & argument for why conference shouldn't hold conference tournament to decide big dance bid.
Snubs: I have no problem with Oklahoma, Tigers, Trojans, New Mexico, Cowboys, Tulsa, Hoosiers, Florida St, Hokies, George Mason & Pirates being snubs. They can then eat Subway snubs after their nit games. But i believe Tigers with Steven Pearl must schedule lighter next year as they had record hurt by heavy non con. Though i believe Tigers will make march madness next year.
what Committee got Wrong.
I'll list my complaints to what they did Wrong for here. Boo.
U're kidding me that UCLA too high as 7 seed as quad 1 win % similar to both Of Buckeyes & Hawkeyes while having lower net than both Of them & similar predictive metrics to both Of them. Hence why i believed they should be lower as 10 seed.
U're kidding me that Utah St too low as 9 seed. Their team sheet metrics are mostly over 33 to 36 range so that was nonsense.
Mephitic that Miami OH so low as 11 seed considering that team was ap poll ranked just last week & went undefeated before losing 1st game. This was a slap in the face, teams that should be punished are power conference teams who didn't reply to Miami OH requests to play basketball games against them instead Of Miami OH being punished & having them in play in proves season doesn't matter as they definitely shouldn't be play in participant this year.
Nitwit decision with NC St as 11 seed play in as they had multiple quad 1 & quad 2 road or neutral wins around as numerous that higher seeds ie Miami FL & Kentucky possessed this year. The arguments on NC St losing to bad or below average teams also applies to TCU so why wasn't TCU given 11 seed as they lost to Privateers, Notre Dame at home, Utes & Colorado thus i believe crappy rapper Master P who is Privateers affiliated paid off committee to give NC St 11 seed but seed TCU higher as 9 seed.
Terrible that Texas is in as they were 4 games below .500 at quad 1 through 3. Not like last year with 7 quad 1 wins, 3 to 5 record at quad 2 & no quad 3 losses as opposed to this year with 6 quad 1 wins, 1 to 4 record at quad 2 & a quad 3 loss.
Stupefying Siena is 16 seed as i admire them since they're MAAC team, the reason i started doing bracketology is since i looked at what bracketmatrix thought field would have looked like in 2020 when us didn't have ncaa tournament because Of coronavirus so upon seeing it i saw noone put any MAAC team higher than 16 seed which made me depressed & thus i made it my mission to make sure bracketologist such as me would make sure a MAAC team never got 16 seed in his or her predictions. From when i started doing bracketology at fall 2020 i made sure MAAC team wouldn't get disrespected by being placed as 16 seed & MAAC is my 2nd favorite conference behind ACC. It was disgusting 16 seeds had MAAC, NEC, Patriot League & America East which are yankee area conferences proving bias committee had against those conferences & committee giving MAAC a 16 seed, considering it's north east conference, is like the assassination Of Lincoln. It was beyond disgusting to me Siena was low.
U're kidding me that UMBC is too low as 16 seed. The reason for lower net was because Odunowo & King were injured some games they lost but UMBC should be higher seed because both did come back from injury.
Congratulations to these teams which did rarity this year.
Would admire to therefore appreciate these teams which did rarity Of making mens march madness & womens march madness this year as teams at nonpower conferences specifically 1 bid conference teams. That was unique. Those programs were Howard, High Point Panthers, Vandals & Lancers. It's amazing they did that achievement at our current year.
footnotes.
For my seeds, here's format to decipher them. I'll briefly explain. Going for march madness, each # corresponds to overall tournament seed. E.g., 1.-> 1 overall march madness seed. Going for nit, each # which is 16 & over corresponds to overall tournament seed but each Unseeded Team has no #s attached. E.g., 1. -> 1 overall nit seed while Unseeded Team doesn't -> any #. Going for basketball crown, each basketball crown # usually corresponds to teams with winning record at 2025 through 2026 season & will have 2 teams from Big XII, 2 teams from Big East & 2 teams from Big 10 while also including potpourri Of other conferences at division 1. E.g. 4. would be team with fine winning record at conference alphabetically near top Of alphabet & 7. would be team with membership at conference alphabetically below above conferences. Going for cbi, each cbi # usually corresponds to teams with winning record at 2025 through 2026 season & will have lots Of teams at American Conference, A 10, ACC, Big XII, Big East, Big 10, C USA, Mountain West & SEC at college basketball. E.g., 4. would be team with fine winning record at conference alphabetically near top Of alphabet & 9. would be team with membership at conference alphabetically below above conferences. Going for basketball classic, each # usually corresponds to conference alphabetically. E.g., 5. would be team with best winning record remaining at conference alphabetically near top Of alphabet & 16. would be team with fine record at conference alphabetically below teams above it & there won't be any teams which come from American Conference, A 10, ACC, Big XII, Big East, Big 10, C USA, Mountain West & SEC because these conferences don't participate in basketball classic. Use footnotes when u're trying to decipher my seeding above. That's my tips. I followed the rules with regard to march madness & nit seeding & march madness, nit, cbi & basketball classic location. So be fine with reading my # lists for 4 tournaments at d1.
